Cork Area Commuter Rail Upgrade
Muskerry Civils has been subcontracted by Pod-Trak to support the modernization of Cork’s suburban rail network, spanning 62km from Mallow to Cork, Cobh, and Midleton. The project aims to provide a seamless, high-frequency rail service for the region.
Challenges
The works involve day and night operations across multiple confined sites with strict rail safety requirements. Coordinating logistics, material delivery, and safe working practices while maintaining minimal disruption to rail operations presented significant challenges.
Our Work
- Installed 24 reinforced concrete bases at multiple sites along the rail network.
- Completed de-vegetation, stone compaction, and installation of steel mesh for track stability.
- Managed site logistics, welfare units, signage, and barriers under strict rail safety protocols.
- Conducted confined space works safely in compliance with certification requirements.
